Tuesday 21st October is the day when camp starts. From Tuesday to Friday we will have our Senior Syndicate Camp at Hunua Falls. The Yr 6s go to Kokako Lodge and the Yr 5s go to the Hunua Falls Presbyterian Camp. We've only had one week to get everything ready like our yummy scroggin ingredients (nuts, dried fruit, chocolate), our home baking and that our camp books are ruled up, set out properly and is ready to take to camp. There are quite a lot of campfire songs that we would need to learn but they sound pretty for a start. I can't wait until our preparations are put into action because we are ready.

Olympics

One World One Dream is the Olympic slogan. Go New Zealand! Take gold home!
Anxiousness takes over all the athletes as they wait for the BIG DAY!
Our class theme is the Olympics this term. I think it is a good idea. We have been learning some really interesting, fascinating facts about the Olympics. The very first recorded Olympic Games were in 776BC! Wow! That was a long, long time ago.
A Roman Emperor abolished the Olympics in 294AD. Before that, women were not even allowed to watch.Prizes included free tax and good careers.
The first modern Olympics were in 1896.
I think we are learning about the Olympics Games because lots of sports champions and athletes come together in one place to compete against at each other at their best sport. This is a very important event for them.

Helpless!
I knew there was no way out. I could hear my own voice muffled, calling for help, looking for a way to freedom. I felt around on the chair (as far as my hands could go) to untie myself. Nothing. Tears trickled down my cheek, palms sweating with fear, my body shaking helplessly.
